Our next meeting location for May is:
Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews
6770 Fossil Bluff Dr
Fort Worth, TX 76137
We will meet at Sickie’s in May and June. At the March meeting everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and food.
*There will be an RSVP sent out via email around April 18th. Please watch for it and follow the link. It’s simple and quick. Need your RSVP by April 30th. *
The reason for the RSVP is to see which side of the restaurant we get. If we have more than about 50, we can have the larger side.
Corvette parking at the meeting. There are 16 reserved spots near the front door.
The first 16 corvettes can have a spot. When you arrive, the area will be blocked off with pilons or chairs that have a sign Corvette Parking Only. You may have to move the item that is reserving the spots to park.
Please be patient with all this, we are working out the kinks.
At the May meeting, I will be in West Point, NY for a family funeral. Lee Ann will preside.
Everyone sign up to participate in the Spring Scramble. It’s on April 25th. It will be tons of fun!
Another gorgeous place we have visited before is the winery. It will be a nice cruise to a fun location on May 9th.
House of Hotrods & Classics is having a car show on May 30th in Mansfield. Since Fat Daddy’s is helping CTV out with the Spring Scramble, it would be great to support their show. It’s a nice show with a ton of beautiful cars. See the website for details.
Enjoy getting your corvettes out now that spring has sprung.

A few other event dates have been established:
Saturday, May 9, 2026, Cassaro Winery
Doug McMahan will be planning a cruise to Cassaro Winery in Ovilla TX. Pack your yard chair as they have beautiful trees and a nice outside area for us to sit and visit while we enjoy a glass of wine or two.
Doug will be sending out more details as we get closer.
Cassaro Winery
704 W Main St
Ovilla, TX
In addition...please save the date for July 11. We will be doing a cruise to the Cliftex Theater in Clifton, Texas for a private showing of a car themed movie (I’m thinking F1 or Ford vs Ferrari). We vote to see which one most people want to see.
This cute vintage indoor theater has been in business since 1916, and was fully restored in 2008.
Following the show, we will be visiting a small car museum in the same town.
On the way home we will stop for dinner in Meridian, TX.
Larry Schaapveld is organizing the cruise and tour.
We are looking forward to having the CenTex Corvette Club join us for this event.

Hi Everyone,
Membership stands at 111 members!
I have had no complaints about the new directory, so I’m assuming all information is correct. If you do find anything, please, let me know and I’ll change it in the next revision.
By the time you read this, we will have already had our Spring Scramble, and we will already be back from the second National Governors Meeting in St. Louis. I’m looking forward to this year’s scramble. James has been hard at work with events that should be a lot of fun.
Coming up May 9 is “Great American Corvette Day 2026” and will be celebrated with seven car shows (NOT a typo) at McGregor, sponsored by Cen-Tex Corvette Club (Waco). That also happens to be the day of Cowtown’s Wine Cruise. May 23rd through 25th is Drumright, sponsored by Oklahoma City Corvette Club and Tulsa Vette Set. The last weekend in May is a 14 autocross weekend, back to Killeen, because like everyone else, Cen-Tex lost the use of McLane Stadium in Waco.
Flyers for all events are online in the SW Region calendar.
Save the wave!

If you have not rec’d your 50th Anniversary Cowtown Vettes commemorative Deck of Playing Cards, please attend the next Membership Meeting and see me. Each primary member / household receives one deck of cards. I’ll bring a few decks on the next cruise as well. If you’d like an extra set (or two), see me as well, we did purchase extra decks of cards- these are $5 per deck.
We will have the Events, Socials and such in the next Slideshow. The slideshow will continue to include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette happenings around the country.
Please provide any submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Sunday evening of the Membership Meeting week.
If you have been working on or updating your Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow. Cowtown’s Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry. These are needed by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions, please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone.
When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would request that you please only reply to the originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.
If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or other info – please drop an email to CTV-Membership@groups.io.
If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving them.
More information on email distribution lists and the acceptable use of them can be found on our website.
Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows, maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and don’t want to be tagged J If you are posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook news feed.

Robert Geyer - Cruiser/Equipment Chair
Hello cruisers
Spring is now in full bloom and that means it's time to start cruising. This is a great time of the year for that perfect photo of your Vette in a green spring time setting. Remember the club gets to vote on the best pictures submitted in our November meeting.
Also don't forget to collect those Cruiser Points. I hope you are planning to complete in our Cruiser program. It's easy and a lot of fun.
As for May's cruise, Doug and Glenda McMahan will be leading a fun trip to Cassare Winery in Ovill on Saturday the 9th of May. Doug will have more information soon.
I have been on this cruise before and can assure you it will be a great afternoon with plenty too talk about with your Cowtown family while enjoying a nice glass of wine. If wine is not your thing, I'm sure they have other beverages or you can bring your own.
That's all for now and I'll see y'all on the road.

CHARITY ARTICLE
May
Hi everyone,
James Swaringen has to be the luckiest person in Cowtown Vettes, at least when it comes to the 50/50 drawing! He won the drawing at the March meeting for the 3RD TIME THIS YEAR! So SURELY he can’t win again this month, right? April could be your turn - please take a chance!
Recap: In March, the membership voted among five organizations to pick two to which to donate at the end of the year for 2026. The Tarrant Area Food Bank received 25 votes for the first place and the Warm Place and Fisher House Foundation both tied for second place with 18 votes each. A runoff vote was held at the April meeting to break the tie.
Thank you all for your membership runoff votes at the meeting last month. The runoff results are as follows: The Warm Place: 20 votes and Fisher House Foundation: 18 votes. Therefore, The Warm Place won the runoff and will be the second organization to which we will donate this year.
With approval from club members at the May meeting (by a vote) the money we raise through our 50/50 drawings at our monthly meetings will be donated to the following two organizations at the end of the year:
Tarrant Area Food Bank
The Warm Place
So please be generous when you participate in the drawings - the money is donated to the charities we choose, but your chances of winning half the money also increases!
Mark Your Calendars! We have been busy scheduling Charity activities for Cowtown Vettes members for the near future. Here is what is coming up:
Don’t Forget to Feed Me!: June membership meeting
Tarrant Area Food Bank: Thursday, June 25th, 1 - 4 pm
Cook Children’s Group Visit: Friday, July 24th, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
We will have sign-up forms for Tarrant Area Food Bank beginning at this month’s meeting and Cook Children’s beginning in June.
Our next Charity event will be at the June membership meeting, where Debbie Sharpe from Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank will be collecting our pet food donations. Please bring cat and dog food to the June meeting according to the guidelines below. If you are unable to bring pet food to the meeting or would rather make a monetary donation, please contact Debbie Lindsey or Paula Winter.
The mission of Don’t Forget to Feed Me (DF2FM) is to supply pet food to local agencies in support of pet owners while educating the public about pet food insecurity. By providing pet food for those in need during challenging financial times and increasing awareness, they offer an alternative to surrendering - or worse, abandoning - a family pet. Don’t Forget to Feed Me helps to ensure that no pet owner must choose between stay or go. DF2FM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Fort Worth.
The following is a list of the items Don’t Forget to Feed Me can accept:
• Canned dog and cat food - any brand, any variety (including recently expired and damaged products)
• Dry dog and cat food - any brand, any variety (including recently expired and damaged product)
• Gallon-size Ziploc-style bags
They cannot accept:
• Carriers/kennels/crates
• Leashes/collars
• Litter boxes/litter
• Pet grooming supplies (non-medicated)
• Toys
• Beds
• Medications (prescription and over-the-counter)
• Flea/tick prevention
• Medicated shampoos/conditioners
• Bird houses
• Fish tanks/supplies
We look forward to coming together as a community to help improve the lives of others!

The rumor mill has been simmering— and that's because we think the legendary Zora is still coming.
On April Fool's Day this year we saw some articles that got a lot of people talking, but sadly those were only playful articles meant for some fun. But, there still have been some stories talking about the one Corvette that will pay homage to one of the brand's earliest engineers.
For the Zora, the starting point could be the brand-new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 from the 2027 Grand Sport, which is of course a naturally aspirated beast already being touted as the most powerful of its kind.
And just like before, engineers have reportedly been tasked with strapping on a pair of massive 72mm turbos.
Now, let that sink in for a second. A 6.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, likely paired with electrification (as previous Zora rumors have hinted), could push output into truly uncharted territory and potentially outperform everything that’s come before it, including the already insane ZR1X.
This is all wishful thinking, of course, but really the Zora won’t just be another Corvette. It’ll be "the Corvette". The one that rewrites the rulebook one last time before the next generation takes over.
The one that will put the Mustang GTD and Mercedes-AMG Black Series in their place.
Let's see if the C8 Corvette goes out with another big bang.

First off, Sheeley makes his living building car washes, so he knows a thing or two about clean cars. That’s the first thing you’ll notice about his Corvette; it is immaculate from top to bottom. Appearance alone would make this car feature-worthy, but the real story lies under the hood, where there isn’t a power adder in sight.
No supercharger. No nitrous. No turbo. Just 427ci of LME-built aluminum LS small-block with Jesel valvetrain components, a sheetmetal intake, twin throttle bodies, and a FuelTech FT600 engine management system.
There are no cheat codes in a naturally aspirated build. You can’t just turn up the boost, and if you want to run consistently in the 8.30s, as Sheeley did at Drag Week 2025, you’re going to need to max out almost everything, and that includes a redline that often exceeds 10,000 rpm.
When it comes to the ultimate test of man and machine at drag and drive events, this is Mount Everest.
“I’ll be honest, I built this car because it reminds me of the 1960 Corvette that my dad used to own. It had a small-block and a tunnel ram and a pair of Holley 660s. That was my dream car, and I wanted to build something as close to that as possible,” Sheeley said.“I love the look of this car, and I figure that anything worth doing is worth overdoing.”
So how in the world does a naturally aspirated car with 18:1 compression survive an event like Drag Week? Making five runs in five days is one thing, but completing more than 750 miles on the street is borderline insanity. Sheeley, however, doesn’t see it that way.
“If you build things right from the start, you have to worry less and less,” he says.

“The mission of the National Corvette Museum is to educate worldwide
audiences on the evolution of the Corvette --America’s Sports Car-- through collections, preservation, and celebration of its legacy.”
At the museum’s 31st anniversary celebration that was just held on August 28 - 30, 2025, Zora Arkus - Duntov’s, only Corvette, fully restored was debuted. Who, you ask, is Zora Arkus - Duntov? Depending on where you read he is referred to as either the “Father of the Corvette” or the “Godfather of the Corvette” although Harley Earl was the original designer of the Corvette. After seeing the 1953 Corvette on display in New York City, Arkus - Duntov wrote General Motors that he found the car “visually superb, but was disappointed with what was underneath”. He went to work at GM in May of 1953 as a staff engineer with the idea of changing that perception and was “pivotal in elevating the Corvette into a world class performance vehicle”. The only Corvette Arkus - Duntov owned was a retirement gift from Chevrolet. You can read more about his life and work on the museum’s website or other online sources.
For the latest on museum happenings you can go to the website for info. Museum members can log onto the website for more news and info. As always the museum offers car raffles, NCM insurance, shopping and event info as well as article about exhibits.

Cowtown Vette’s 23rd Annual Car Show is behind us and although Mother Nature didn’t exactly cooperate, it was still a great show. We had 58 pre-registered cars, and we’re told that was the most pre-registered cars we’ve ever had. A total of 72 cars joined the show.
Congratulations to our Best of Show winners:
Early model: Paul and Mary Wolter, C1 1962 Satin Silver Convertible
Late model: Eudale Bell, C8 2023 Black Coupe
We learned a lot about putting on a show at our new location, and the good news is that Jerry’s Chevrolet has invited us back again. That’s a great start for planning the 24th annual show!
Thanks to everyone who volunteered on the committee and the day of the show! We couldn’t have done it without you!

At the time this being released, we would have had the Spring Scramble. Hope you got to come to the event. Either way, check out photos on our website. We will be organizing the event in the Fall.
It's now officially time to focus on gearing up for the Spring Autocross event! I am excited about our new venue at the Burleson Stadium parking lot —it promises to offer an excellent course layout for maximizing the fun.
If you've never participated in an Autocross before, I sincerely hope this is the year you come out and give it a try.
Autocross does not have to be about top speed; it's about precision, car control, and the thrill of cornering. You don't have to push your Corvette to its absolute limit to have a lot of fun. In fact, many of the most enjoyable aspects of Autocross come from learning the limits of your vehicle—and your own driving skills—at moderate, accessible speeds. It's the perfect driving sport for any Corvette owner, regardless of their experience level, and a fantastic way to meet fellow enthusiasts who share a passion for driving their cars as they were intended.
We could also use your help if you do not want to race. Please reach out so we can discuss how you can help. Thank you for your support. Volunteer to Help
Upcoming 2026 NCCC Events:
Spring AX - June 6-7 (14 sanctions) (new date and location)
At Burleson ISD Stadium, 100 Elk Dr, Burleson, TX 76028
Fall AX - Sept 26-27 *May change (14 sanctions) At TBD
Fall Scramble - October 17 Cars show and Games (7 sanctions) At TBD
(Another chance to build and race your valve covers.)
Watch how fun Autocrossing can be.

April 2026 At our membership meeting on April 8th Cowtown Vettes will celebrate 52 years of existence!
In April of 1974 a group of people met together to enjoy their shared passion for America’s sports car. The only one of that original group that is still active today with CTV is Jerry Lindsey.
The group which started with about 20 members grew to sometimes over 200 members… as with all things that changed after 2020 and the Covid Pandemic, our numbers are not as large as they once were, but we are still going strong. We have a variety of activities hoping to provide the proverbial “something for everyone”.
In addition to our monthly business meeting we have NCCC events…ie autocross and drag racing and scrambles, car shows, cruising..ie seeing the countryside in our Corvette, charity events, and socials.
Come out and enjoy our history and our future. “We came for the cars, but we stay for the people”
